Eid Dinner 2006

HCU’s 3rd Annual Eid Dinner- Embracing all of God’s Creation

The Hindu Credit Union and the HCU Financial Group of Companies held its 3rd Annual Eid Dinner on Friday 10th November, 2006. The event was organized to compliment the Muslim community for its outstanding contribution, social, economic, financial and otherwise, towards the growth and development of the Hindu Credit Union and the HCU Financial Group of Companies. A gathering of well over 500 guests were treated to various messages by both local and visiting Islamic Scholars, all in keeping with the teachings of Almighty Allah and the Holy Prophet Mohammed, Upon Whom Be Peace. The function was professionally chaired by no lesser person than Imam Inshan Hoosaney, of the Knowles Street Mosque, Curepe. Among those extending greetings were Haji Zainool Ali, Chairman of the Islamic Relief Centre, Haji Zainool Khan, T.I.A., Haji Kamaludeen Ghany, Imam, PCO Mosque, and Haji Yacoob Ali, President of ASJA.

Making a special appearance as well was visiting Islamic Scholar Sheikh Shafayat Mohammed of Miami. His most edifying message centered on the religion of Islam and its rightful role and function in a modern world. The audience was also treated to a number of scintillating Quranic recitations by world renowned Islamic singer Qari Abdul Jalil of London. Extending greetings on behalf of the Hindu Credit Union was the Chief Executive Officer Mr.Ravindra Bachan. His message centered on the unique and close relationship which exists between the Hindu Credit Union and the Islamic Community. Mr.Bachan further noted that while the Muslim community has been very supportive of its varied business ventures and subsidiaries, the Hindu Credit Union was equally pleased to have provided the technical and other infrastructure in making these a reality. In delivering the feature address, President of the Hindu Credit Union Harry Harrinarine commended the Muslin community for its sterling contribution towards nation building. He noted the discipline which exist among members of the Muslim community, and encouraged them to use this discipline in finding an economic solution, rather than a political solution to the many ills currently plaguing Trinidad and Tobago. Mr.Harrinarine told the large gathering that the economic wealth which they hold in the palm of their hands must work for the good and the benefit of all. After the speeches, however, it was time to settle down to a sumptuous dinner and dessert. Of course, the venue, the World Select Gem Convention Centre, the only one of its kind in Freeport, added to a most perfect and enchanting evening. In the end a good time was had by all, and the Hindu Credit Union looks forward to hosting our Muslim brothers and sisters at next year’s Eid Dinner.
